In 1954, Bob Russo purchased his first truck. That same year, he met Tony Becker while the two were operating a truck depot for the New Jersey National Guard. Over the next half-century, the company they built earned a reputation for reliability and professionalism by constantly growing with the times and exceeding customers' evolving needs.
In the early 1970s, Port Jersey's trucking customers encouraged us to offer warehousing services. Port Jersey Distribution Services was established and quickly grew to become a major Northeast service provider.
Before long we introduced consolidated freight shipping as a way to reduce customer costs. In 1984, we added warehouses in the Port Newark and Port Elizabeth Marine Terminals, offering Customs Bonded and Foreign Trade Zone storage to service the growing import-export community.
A few years later, we became the first public warehouse to occupy space in a new industrial park in Central New Jersey. In 2004, we opened our fourth and fifth facilities in that area and relocated our corporate offices and trucking operation to Monroe Township.
Today, Port Jersey Logistics is one of the leading suppliers of third party logistics services in New Jersey and the New York metropolitan area. Our co-founders' dedication to customer service is now shared by over 250 employees. And our history is still being written as we continue to grow and evolve along with our customers and our industry.
